ATTILA ADORJÁN IS A PAINTER, EXPLORING BOUNDARIES BETWEEN FINE ART AND MODERN POP CULTURE, CURRENTLY BASED IN HUNGARY. HIS ART RESPECTS THE TRADITIONS OF THE CLASSIC GENRES BUT CAPTURES THE REALITY OF OUR MODERN WORLD IN A HYPERREALIST WAY. HE CREATES A NEW KIND OF VISUALITY THAT CAN NOT BE BOUNDED BY PREVIOUS TRENDS AND ESTABLISHES A DISTINCTIVE, ORIGINAL VISION.
Attila interprets the absurdity of reality by portraying perfect bodies, perfect models in a frozen frame. These slender models are just off the pages of fashion magazines, but we sense that these images hold more than that - they represent the consumer society and document the world we live in.
He follows the hyperrealist tradition by using figures as his models from photographs, magazine cut-outs. These images are staged - he sometimes extracts figures from their original background, creates new compositions between them and their environment, and builds a new scenery, that never existed. In these staged sets, despite they are not alone on the canvas, models do not have intimate or confidential relations to each other, the atmosphere feels cold, numb and sterile. By his brushstrokes, his color palette and the context he constructs we see these figures estranged from their own lives.
In the last century, photography became a substitute of paintings - now our culture is overwhelmed with the mass of printed and digital snapshots that we are incapable to preserve. The photos Attila uses in his artwork are saved from destruction and oblivion, what is more, he creates valuable, lasting, timeless pieces by using them.
Thanks to social media, the advertisements, and the whole culture that surrounds us, our eyes flip through thousands of photographs a day – but when we set our eyes on a painting, it makes us think, because we know, each detail has a definite meaning.
